The spiritual viewpoint, which is the one where one purely dedicates oneself to surrender or self-inquiry, is ideal. But in fact, it usually cannot always be upheld by most people until their mind has acquired a great deal of harmony and quietness. In order to deal with the problems that arise when we try to keep up the spiritual practice, we often have to downshift to other viewpoints, like the psychological or the physical, where we identify with the investigator and healer of those systems.
